PS: worked as a sub-postmaster in a sub-post office for 3 years.
As BPM your official work would be as follows:
– open post accounts (SB, RD, TD, SSA, PPF, etc)
– bring postal insurance policies (RPLI)
-pay bills of villagers (water, light, etc)
-collect email and pay it to banks (you will be given a mobile for this)
-open IPPB accounts
-link adder with phone number
-sell postal and revenue stamps
-Money order
-mail delivery (sending as well as distributing articles) for this you will receive mailbag from your corresponding tehsil.
These are the main responsibilities of a BPM. However, if you are a new joiner, be careful with the last point. As old gov servants may burden you with their duties by telling you it’s your duty. In this case, you can contact your respective tehsil’s postmaster (SPM- sub-postmaster). If SPM doesn’t do any satisfactory action you can contact your respective SDI (sub-division inspector. Rest assured if you are preparing for competitive exams this job is best suitable for you as it only involves four hours of your time. You will have plenty of time for studying. Best of luck!
